Why do people go hunting?

There are as many reasons to go hunting as there are people on the hunting field! Once you have tried it, you will see for yourself what makes it the best sport for the many thousands of people enjoying this sport every week.

It's winter. Your horse needs riding. You need a break from work. You haven't got a school and you have hacked the same route for years.

The solution?

Go hunting!

Twice a week, the West Norfolk organises meets in different parts of the county that are otherwise closed to the public. Fields of turf, grass margins, forest tracks and spectacular riding you can only find out hunting. What's even better is that you are always guaranteed to have great company as you'll be catching up with other people doing the exact same thing. Every meet will mean a different group of people, often arriving on their own but always leaving having made new friends.

Develop your horse .... and you!

It is often said that the best education for any horse is to start it on the hunting field.

They learn to experience going out without the pressure of competition and you can choose whether to start quietly at the back or progress to a busier day up front.

You will find a brief description of the kind of day planned in the parking section on the Booking page.

Horses that have been hunting find a new enjoyment for life and develop skills they can take forward to any other equestrian sphere. Riders that go hunting find they are more confident than they would usually be as the camaraderie of "kick on" spurs you on to try new things, if you want.

Hunting is a sport you or your horse can take up at any age, be it young or old. We have regulars from aged 7 to 70+ years old out with the West Norfolk.  Find out where we are going to be and come and join us.
